Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm sure you're going to be surprised, I qualified as a professional makeup artist in August 2015, and I started practicing in December 2015, so it's been 7 months only. Currently I'm 19 years old, 20 in August. Other than being a self taught artist, I've been certified as a professional by a school called Makeup The College, Jacqui Bannerman was my teacher at college, she's truly an amazing person. I've also attended Zukreat's makeup workshop, she is the owner of Artist of Makeup based in London, as well as Samer Khouzami's masterclass which was held in Toronto, Canada. Not forgetting online classes with Tamanna Roashan also known as dress your face on Instagram. I'm from Durban, South Africa, however once I'm married I'll probably be based in Pretoria. Other than makeup, I'm a student at UKZN studying Law.
You are a truly talented makeup artist. When did your fascination with makeup begin?
Thank you so much! I would probably say my fascination with makeup started when I was younger, playing with my moms collection of YSL and Coco Chanel makeup which completely allured me!
I notice from your Instagram pictures that you love a dramatic smokey eye. What are your favourite eye shadow brands that you use to create your looks?
I do! One can never go wrong with a smokey eye, I use a variety of products and my go to would definitely be the Kat Von D shade and Light eye palette, I also use a lot of Morphe Brushes Palettes as they're super pigmented. And if you've never tried the Inglot AMC Gel liner in 77, you're missing out! It's the blackest eyeliner I've ever used and it doesn't budge at all.
I have to agree with you Raeel. There's nothing more glamorous than a well executed smoky eye
If you were to travel but your bags were overweight and you were asked to remove your entire makeup bag, which 3 makeup products would you sneak back into your bags 😁?
This is a hard one! But it would definitely be my Gucci Lustrous Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette which I would multitask as eyeshadows as well, and lastly, my favourite HudaBeauty Lip Contour in Bombshell.
I see that you have partnered with SK lashes. Tell us a bit about the brand and where can the lashes be purchased?Yes, SK Lash and I have collaborated and are doing a makeover giveaway using a pair of their handcrafted lashes. We cannot wait to choose the winner! For those who don't know about SK Lash, they are South Africa's first silky line of lashes, handcrafted, vegan and cruelty-free. To shop SK Lash, all you have to do is whatsapp 0784230010.
When it comes to skin care do you have any personal favourite skin care tips that you swear by?
Flawless makeup starts with flawless skin! Skincare is essential to achieve a flawless makeup look. I swear by the Chanel Hydra Beauty Range, as well as my favourite replenishing oil by Kiehl's, the Midnight Recovery Concentrate.
My skincare routine - exfoliating, cleansing my face, toning, and moisturizing. At nights I use a heavier moisturizer than the day, as well as my dry oil before bed.

What are your thoughts on Shades of Minks masks?
My favourite of the three masks I had tried was definitely the "Neroli Brightening Mask".
The pros - Being a sheet mask, I did not have to wash anything off after, which made it really convenient. It was comfortable to wear and didn't flap around or tear like most sheet masks. The mask contains Neroli extracts which "helps against skin dullness" - I definitely agree with that; My skin seemed much brighter and hydrated after using it! Not completely right away, but I noticed a difference after a day. It gave off a glowy, radiant and lit-from-within look.
The only con I had towards it was that the material flapped over my chin, therefore it became a bit messy, as the liquids dripped down to my neck. But other than that, I absolutely loved it!
The amazing thing about our sheet masks is that they come with ALOT of excess essence. Work the essence into your face, neck and hands using any kind of massage movement to ensure that you make the most of your mask. This will prevent the essence from dripping as well as stimulate your skin to absorb as much of the mask's nutrients as possible.
It was an absolute pleasure chatting with Raeel. I predict nothing but great things for her in the future.
